The Great Depression

The Great Depression lasted over a decade and had a
massive impact not only in America but world wide.  Our
exhibit displays National Bank notes from area work towns.
reprints of photographs taken by Russell Lee as well as
photographs and artifacts from the WPA project.  
Additionally, we are proud to display the original letter sent
to President Hoover from Mr. McKee, Spencer Daily Reporter
Editor and President Hoover's response regarding the Great
Spencer Fire.

The Clay County Fair is estatic to announce country
breakout band Old Dominion will perform in the
U.S. Cellular Grandstand on Saturday, September 16th
at 7:30pm.

Old Dominion has emerged as one of the hottest breaking
bands in country music. In 2016, the band was named
ACM New Group of the Year, ACCA Breakthroug Group of
the Year, AIMP Songwriter-Artist of the Year and Music

SQUABBLES A/K/A YOUR HOUSE OR MINE

The final performance of the 57th Season of 
Spencer Community Theatre is a comedy called
"Squabbles" aka "Your Place or Mine"

This hilarious play pits a father in law against a 
mother in a comedic succession of 'squabbles'.
Jerry Sloan is a successful writer of advertising 
jingles married to an equally successful lawyer. 
Living with the happy couple is the not so happy 
Abe Dreyfus, Jerry's curmudgeon of a father in law.
Abe is a funny guy to the audience, not to Jerry.
The situation is exacerbated when Jerry's mother 
Mildred loses everything in a fire and needs a place
to stay.  Abe and Mildred can't stand each other.
The play is one hilarious confrontation after another.
until the heartwarming finale in which the oldsters
discover that, really, each is not so bad.
