About Schmidt is a great example of a producer taking
parts and pieces of a great book and turning it into a gem
of an original film.

Jens Jensen: Celebrating the Native Prairie
Location: Clay County Heritage Center

Jens Jensen (1860-1951) is celebrated as a 
pioneer of the "prairie school" of landscape
architecture.  He was an early advocate of
using native plants in parks and garden design,
and conserving natural spaces for human
recreation and reflection.

Clay County Heritage is working closely with the
Elkhorn Danish Museum, this exhibit will 
demonstrate Jens dream of creating parks
utilizing natural prairie plants and wildlife.
O'Brien County Conservation, Palo Alto Conservation,
The Prairie Flower and Clay County Conservation
are contributors to this exhibit demonstrating local
efforts towards conservation.

Its our 57th Season at Spencer Community Theatre!
To kick off the season we will be presenting 
"The Addams Family" (a musical comedy)
In this original story, it's every father's nightmare, 
when Wednesday Addams, the ultimate princess of 
darkness, has grown up and fallen in love with a sweet,
smart young mand from a respectable family - a man her
parents have never met.  And if that weren't upsetting
enough, Wednesday confides in her father and begs him
not to tell her mother.  Now, Gomez Addams must do 
something he has never done before - keep a secret from
his beloved wife, Morticia.  Everything will change for
the whole family on the fateful night they host a dinner
for Wednesday's 'normal' boyfriend and his parents.

Performances will be October 14-16 and October 20-23.
Evening performances at 7:30pm and Sunday Matinee 
at 2pm.

One of the most popular and successful plays of modern
times.  At first the Sycamores seem mad, but it is not 
long before we realize that if they are mad, the rest of the
world is madder.  In contrast to these delightful people 
are the unhappy Kirbys.  A tale of young love between
members of these two families and the zany interactions
of everybody around endears this story to audiences of all
kinds.

SQUABBLES A/K/A YOUR HOUSE OR MINE

The final performance of the 57th Season of 
Spencer Community Theatre is a comedy called
"Squabbles" aka "Your Place or Mine"

This hilarious play pits a father in law against a 
mother in a comedic succession of 'squabbles'.
Jerry Sloan is a successful writer of advertising 
jingles married to an equally successful lawyer. 
Living with the happy couple is the not so happy 
Abe Dreyfus, Jerry's curmudgeon of a father in law.
Abe is a funny guy to the audience, not to Jerry.
The situation is exacerbated when Jerry's mother 
Mildred loses everything in a fire and needs a place
to stay.  Abe and Mildred can't stand each other.
The play is one hilarious confrontation after another.
until the heartwarming finale in which the oldsters
discover that, really, each is not so bad.

Performance dates are:
April 28 - 30 and May 5 - 7
Evening performances are at 7:30pm and
Sunday Matinee at 2pm.
