About the Chamber

The Spencer Chamber of Commerce was founded in 1890. Spencer was among the first cities in the entire nation to use the Chamber of Commerce “bureau plan”. Under this plan, the various types of businesses in the city were divided into 12 different bureaus, each representing similar or closely related types of service.

Since that time the Spencer Chamber of Commerce has continued in its endeavor to promote civic, economic, industrial, and agricultural development. The association is committed to fostering an environment which creates jobs, enhances economic opportunities and improves the quality of life for the Spencer area. By pooling the talents and resources of the entire community, this voluntary organization of business and industry works together to improve the quality of life for the Spencer area.

The Spencer Chamber serves as a central nucleus to the city of Spencer. We work to advocate for our businesses and be a catalyst for the entire community.

The Spencer Chamber of Commerce has been organized to provide you with the information you need and would consider it a real pleasure to have an opportunity to serve you in any way we can.

"Networking and reaching new customers is always our top priority. To that end, the Spencer Chamber is an invaluable tool for us, as a local small business. Thank you!"

"The new Chamber magazine, THRIVE, has been a great way for us to highlight our business and the region in one publication. We have used it at career fairs especially, and it has been wonderful."

"Joining a chamber of commerce is not only a great way to be part of the community, but with the Spencer Chamber of Commerce, you never know who you’ll meet and where those relationships will lead. I am forever grateful for their assistance."

"Serving on the Young Professionals board has not only been valuable, but also very exciting and entertaining. Acting as a member of the Chamber has helped me to gain confidence, respect, reputability, and most importantly community involvement and support!"
